“take a step back and fuck your face!”

like a lot of people, i have a love/hate relationship with ben stiller.  most of the time, i hate him.  his single season show from the ’90s was hilarious and zoolander is still pretty great.  pretty much everything else he’s done is crap.  until now.

tropic thunder is easily the funniest movie of the year.  it’s a perfect send-up of the hollywood system, complete with pretentious method actors, big budget sequels, oscar-baiting, and rampant consumerism.  i won’t ruin the surprise, but let’s say a certain famous scientologist completely steals the show.

i can understand some of the outrage over the usage of the term “retard” but at the same time the “retard jokes” are more about making fun of the idea of playing the mentally challenged to win awards.  it’s also damn hilarious.

seriously, ignore the trailers and go see the movie.  you won’t be disappointed.
