wait, is mark johnny’s best friend?

last night, a night i will always remember, i witnessed the epic fail that is the room. it is hands down, unequivically, the single worst movie ever made.  if you’ve seen the mst3k classic manos: the hands of fate, then you have a vague idea of the neighborhood we’re in.  the room goes beyond manos in it’s terrible-ness.

and i loved every second of it.

my favorite scene has the male cast all in tuxedoes for some reason.  my first thought was “i guess tommy and lisa’s wedding is today.”  then they go outside and play football.  then there’s a shot of some park in san francisco and we’re on the next scene, which is not a wedding.  it’s never mentioned again and i kept thinking “wait, why was everyone in tuxes?”

i could go on for days about how amazingly bad this “film” is, but i could never really do it justice.  this should be required viewing for all filmstudents and wannabe directors.  according to tommy wiseau (writer/director/star/producer/creepy wax manaquin), this thing cost $6 million to make.  i don’t even know how that’s possible.

for those of you who have seen it, or those planning on it, here’s the official myironicmustache.com the room drinking game.  enjoy.

take a drink every time:

  • we see stock footage of the golden gate bridge
  • someone, including mark, mentions that mark is johnny’s best friend
  • someone says “don’t worry about it”
  • we see lisa’s gross boobs
  • there’s a football in the scene
  • there’s a spoon somewhere in the scene
  • lisa says “i don’t love tommy”

you now have alcohol poisoning.  you’re welcome.

that youtube trailer looked pretty great… how come the review quotes didn’t have any citations? what’s up with the main guy’s accent? this might be something i have to watch.

speaking of horrible, horrible movies, have you ever seen troll 2? it’s amazing as well. (hint: there’s no troll 1 but the italian director thought that it would add to the mystique of the movie if it was a sequel.)

    review quote link added.

i’ve heard of troll 2 but haven’t gotten around to watching it. i’ll have to queue it up.

Wow…looking at the quotes from the movie on IMDB, I can already tell this is the best movie ever.

I think the $6 mil came in (if it came in at all) when he decided to shoot the entire thing on both digital and film.

No, not separately – literally – he basically mounted both cameras side-by-side and shot the exact same stuff on both film and digital.

I think we all wish that he would have used the money to be saved on expensive film (because it just looked like grainy Cinemax anyway) to hire someone other than Lisa.

You’re tearing me apart Lisa! I don’t want to look at your gross boobs anymore!

about to watch “the room”… can’t wait.

fyi- there actually is a “troll” movie, to which “troll 2″ is the sequel. the plots have nothing to do with each other though, but i own them both on one disc. the first one isn’t nearly as bad as the second…

    Another good rule:

Every Time Mark looks confused when Lisa starts trying to have sex with him.
